Pinus parviflora
Japanese White Pine

An evergreen tree growing to 65 feet at a medium rate. It is hardy to zone 4. It is in leaf all year, and the seeds ripen in October.

Location:

Position:

Full sun protect from frost and cold wind.

Watering:

Keep soil moist. Water daily if neessary. Water sparing in winter.



Feeding:

Feed every three or four weeks, from sping to early winter.

Leaf and Branch Pruning:

Pinch of growing leaf shoots of young plant during growing season. Prune branchs tips in late autumn in alternating years to encourage the branch filling out with branchlets in the follwing growing season.

Re-potting & Growing Medium:

Repot every two or three years for young plant and 3-5 years for older plants. Repot with free draining soil - Soil 30%, Peat 20%, Sand 50%. For younger plants the initial pruning should be mild.Thereafter once the tree has settled prune to keep the pots from getting congested.

Wiring:

Wire as required during the dormancy peroid after fall. As every on younger plants check regularly to ensure that wire do not bite into the bark.
