Pseudolarix amabilis
Golden Larch

The Golden Larch has a strong Pyramidal Shape, which with it wide spreading branches and golden yellow spring and blue green summer leaves make it an attractive tree in any surrounding. It can grow to between 30-40 meters. It is especially pleasing as a Bonsai with it vibrant spring and autumn leaf colours and beautifully textured bark.

Formal upright, Informal Upright, Slanting, Cascade, Semi-cascade, Literate, Broom, Rock-over-root, Clasped-to-rock, Twin-trunk, Group planting

Location:

Outdoor

Position:

Outdoors full sun. They do not grow well in like shady areas. Keep small bonsai pots frost free. Store in Cool Greenhouse during coldest of winter months.

Watering:

Regularly throughout the growing season. Sparingly during the winter but do not allow soil to dry out.



Feeding:

Feed in spring and late summer. Feed with ericaceous slow release fertiliser. Feed in moderation to ensure, leaves do get too large. Prefers a normal to acidic soil, a dose or 2 during the summer months will help correct pH levels.

Leaf and Branch Pruning:

Through out growing season pinch to keep shape of plant. In Winter prune back branches to shape.

Re-potting & Growing Medium:

Repot younger there every other year just before buds show in spring. Use free draining soil, 1 part peat or leaf mould, 1 part loam, 1 part sharp sand. or 1 part Akadama and 1 part leaf humus/bark chips.

Wiring:

Wire in winter to give shape. In young plants that are growing rapidly best to remove wiring during summer to avoid wiring furrows.
